Man Utd New Manager - 5 Things Louis van Gaal Must Do To Be Considered A Success

2. Excel In The Transfer Window

Following the demoralising summer transfer window endured by Manchester United last summer, and the adverse effect that has had on performances, it is paramount van Gaal excels in his first transfer window. David Moyes, hindered rather than helped by Ed Woodward, suffered a disastrous window a year ago and it told - with a weak United side crashing to seventh place and missing out on Champions League and Europa League football. Van Gaal cannot afford a repeat, and unless he signs two new centre-backs, a new left-back, a creative midfielder and a new winger, history could be set to repeat itself. The Dutchman will have to negotiate the aforementioned distractions of the World Cup but also learn lessons from his predecessor Moyes - no dithering over wrapping up a deal I.e Cesc Fabregas, no spending over the odds on players aka Marouane Fellaini, and definitely no waiting until transfer deadline day to secure a transfer. The success of which van Gaal performs in this transfer window will mould his Manchester United career - one way or the other.
