Man Utd News: Robin Van Persie Injured on International Duty

Robin Van Persie was substituted at half-time during Holland's 4-1 victory over Hungary last night after complaints of a thigh injury.

Mail Online):

"It does not seem to be too serious, but we did not want to take any risks."
Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping Van Persie will be fit for the visit of Wigan to Old Trafford this Saturday. His summer signing from Arsenal in a deal worth £24 million, according to the Mail Online, has made a blistering start to his Manchester United career, netting his first hat-trick for his new club last weekend against Southampton. Fellow summer signing Shinji Kagawa was also injured on International duty this week, after the midfielder complained of back problems. He told Kyodo News Agency (via The Telegraph):
"I felt a twinge in the back during practice when I was on the ball. I had some treatment but didn't want to risk causing the team trouble by playing."
Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans has already featured for his country in Friday's World Cup Qualifying game with Russia and last night's game against Luxembourg, despite only featuring for United's reserve team after undergoing ankle surgery during the summer. With no serious injuries being reported, Sir Alex will be hoping to have Van Persie, Kagawa and Evans available for their weekend fixture against Wigan Athletic.
