Man Utd Next Manager: 5 Reasons Why Moyes Is A Better Option Than Mourinho

2. Moyes Can Operate Without Spending Millions

We've already touched upon Jose Mourinho's ridiculous spending spree of £225.76 million during his three seasons at Chelsea, but we feel it needs further underlining. Manchester United are not a "Chelsea". They aren't owned by a billionaire yacht-owning oligarch with bottomless pockets and unscrupulous morals. United are a club saddled with debt, and cannot afford to lavish £50 million on a single player like Radamel Falcao (above), and that's why Mourinho would be unsuitable for the role at Old Trafford, especially with financial fair play rules set to come into effect shortly. David Moyes has operated on a frugal, shrewd budget and to reasonable success at that. Everton are on course for their fifth top-eight finish in a row this season which, given the resources available (or rather unavailable) at Goodison Park, is a pretty impressive accomplishment. As club spending will be monitored more strictly over the coming years, United would benefit from having a manager who knows how to operate with success on a shoestring budget.
