Man Utd: Ranking Premier League Goalkeepers From Worst To Best

3. David de Gea

Upon arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2011, David de Gea hasn't always found things easy at Manchester United nor in the Premier League. Brought in as a replacement for Edwin van der Saar, de Gea took time to settle at United and questions were quickly raised about his upper body strength and ability to cope with the rigours of the English game, while dealing with corners has often been his biggest weakness. Things were difficult in the early stages of his Old Trafford career and the young Spaniard found himself dropped and replaced by Anders Lindegaard in his debut season, though he later recovered and finished his first campaign at United with the best saves-to-shots ratio in the Premier League. De Gea has continued to improve since and has now very much established himself as the Red Devil's No.1, with colleague Darren Fletcher recently hailing him as the best goalkeeper of the last 18 months. Dealing with crosses and corners is still an issue though the indications are de Gea will go on to achieve what only a few players have over the past 10 years - fill the void left by Peter Schmeichel.
