Man Utd Transfer News: Asmir Begovic Rumours Dismissed

Daily Star. The Red Devils, along with Arsenal and a host of other top European sides, have been linked with the £15 million-rated Bosnian shot-stopper in recent times, but Pulis insists he's going nowhere. The arrival of Jack Butland in the summer had triggered speculation over the future of Begovic, particularly as the soon-to-be-ex-Birmingham star had previously insisted he would only leave the Championship for first team action. Meanwhile, the continued speculation surrounding United's David de Gea also suggested Sir Alex Ferguson would be entering the market in the summer for a new No.1 goalkeeper to replace the Spaniard, who has put in a series of nervy performances this season. However, the former Atletico Madrid star's renaissance between the sticks recently have dampened calls for Ferguson to find a replacement, while Pulis is prepared to make space for Begovic by sending young England international Butland straight out on loan, if it means keeping hold of his current No.1. Pulis said:

€œNo, no-one€™s rung me up to ask about Asmir and if they did the price would be ... I can€™t even think. They€™d have to spend a hell of a lot of money to take him away. I couldn€™t even give you a price because I haven€™t even thought about it. €œThe fact we€™ve signed Jack doesn€™t mean we€™re going to sell Asmir. I still think there€™s more to come from Asmir. He€™s going to get better. He€™s been brilliant this year but there€™s still more to come.€
Clearly, Pulis still has designs for his current No.1, and has full faith that he is only going to get better over time. He added:
€œAsmir, over the past two years, has just got better and better. I really do think he€™s a top goalkeeper.€
Begovic will stand in the way of relegation-haunted Sunderland this evening as the Black Cats play host to the Potters in the Premier League, and a shut-out by the Bosnian would heap further misery on Paolo di Canio's men.
