Man Utd Transfer News: David Moyes To Spend £80 Million In January?

Manchester United manager David Moyes is set to spend £80 million on Leighton Baines, Ander Herrera and Eliaquim Mangala in the January transfer window, according to the Express. Moyes has admitted he needs to bring in some fresh faces in the New Year, having overseen United's worst start to a Premier League season since 1989. The Red Devil's owners, the Glazers, will back the beleaguered boss in the winter window with a huge warchest of up to £80 million with left-back Baines, centre-back Mangala and midfielder Herrera all potential targets. While predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson very rarely spent in the January window, Moyes appears to have very little alternative following a summer of inactivity that only saw Marouane Fellaini arrive. First on his wishlist is Baines, the Everton defender of whom Moyes tried twice to sign over the summer. Patrice Evra is nearing the end of his career, as is Rio Ferdinand, which is why Mangala of Porto is also in Moyes's sights. Meanwhile, the Scot will also make another attempt to sign Herrera from Athletic Bilbao, another player United were linked with - but failed to land - on last month's deadline day. Everton would likely demand upwards of £15 million for Baines, while Moyes may have to meet Herrera's £30 million release clause. Meanwhile, it would cost £37.5 million to prise Mangala away from Porto, pushing United's potential January spend way past the £80 million barrier.
