Man Utd Transfer News: David Moyes Wants To Sign Kevin Strootman For £10 Million

Daily Star's sources in Holland, Manchester United will sign Dutchman Kevin Strootman from PSV Eindhoven for a fee of £10 million. Strootman, 23, would be a replacement for the retired Paul Scholes, and looks likely to become David Moyes€™ first signing as Manchester United manager. PSV signed the 6ft€™1 player from FC Utrecht back in summer 2011 and in his two years there he has racked up appearances in Europe league campaigns as well as the Dutch domestic cup. He has played 35 times for PSV this season, scoring on six occasions to help his side become runners-up in the Dutch Eredivisie to Ajax. Strootman has already won 18 caps for the Netherlands and is an international colleague of Robin Van Persie. David Moyes was interested in the Dutch international whilst at Everton, requesting his scouts to keep regular reports on his development and has now continued that interest at Old Trafford. United already do have the likes of Michael Carrick and Tom Cleverly available in the centre of midfield but with Darren Fletcher still recovering from his injury and with Scholes retiring, Moyes clearly thinks they are still short in this area.
