Man Utd Transfer News: Ex-Madrid President Tips Cristiano Ronaldo For Premier League Return

Cristiano Ronaldo could one day make a sensational return to England and Manchester United, according to ex-Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon and a report on Team Talk. The newly-crowned World Footballer of the Year penned a new, five-year contract with Madrid last September, but, at the age of 28, could have one more big move left in him. A return to United, where Ronaldo spend his formative years between 2003-09, was mooted last summer while it has since emerged that Red Devils defender Rio Ferdinand urged him to return. The forward was, however, to stay put, and he remains loyal to his current employers at the Santiago Bernabeu for the time being. Calderon, however, believes it is only a matter of time until the Ballon d'Or winner moves back to England and the Premier League. He told the Sun newspaper:
"I do not think he will finish his career at Real. "I feel that one day he will return to England. In Madrid, he is pleased with the city and the fans. But I think his relationship with Florentino Perez is not as good as it was with Alex Ferguson at Manchester United."
Intriguingly, Calderon also revealed Ronaldo does not enjoy a positive relationship with current chairman Florentino Perez. He continued:
"Ronaldo loves father figures. With Florentino, he does not have that rapport. "The relationship is bad or actually non-existent. He stays at Real despite the chairman."
While Calderon has questioned Ronaldo's relationship with Perez, Perez himself is of the opinion that all is well between the pair. He insisted:
"Of course, everyone in the world wants to have Cristiano in their team, certainly. "It was very important to keep him with us for the image of Madrid and for his level of performance in the years to come. Cristiano was born to play for Real Madrid."
Ronaldo was crowned World Player of the Year for the second time in his career in Zurich on Monday night, beating off competition from Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery. The Portugal captain received 1,365 points as national coaches, captains and journalists voted for their winner, while Barcelona€™s Messi received 1,205 and Bayern Munich€™s Ribery 1,127.
