Man Utd Transfer News: Luka Modric Wants Old Trafford Move?

Mirror. The Real Madrid star could find himself used as part of a package by his club to lure Spurs midfielder Gareth Bale to the Bernabeu this summer, but is refusing to play any part in such a deal. Instead, the 27-year-old is holding out on a move to United. Red Devils manager David Moyes has endured something of a frustrating transfer window so far having missed out on a number of midfield targets, such as Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas. Moyes also wants Marouane Fellaini but had a bid for the Everton midfielder rejected this morning. Ideally, the Scot would like to bring in two new midfielders before the transfer window shuts on September 2, and has turned his attentions to Modric, who is a target for Spurs. Tottenham would like to re-sign the Croatian just a year after selling him to Madrid, either as part of Bale's expected move to the Spanish capital or independent of that transfer. However, Modric, who spent four seasons at White Hart Lane after signing from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008, has no intentions of moving back to North London and is waiting to see if Moyes makes his interest formal with an official bid.
