Man Utd Transfer News: Wayne Rooney Accepts He Won't Be Sold As Chelsea Prepare £40 Million Bid

According to the Mail Online, unhappy Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has finally accepted that he will not be sold to Chelsea this summer. Rooney, 27, was brought on in the second half of United€™s 4-1 away win over Swansea on Saturday night, creating two goals for the Red Devils. Despite helping the Premier League champions to the victory, Rooney failed to celebrate with his teammates. A United source has said:
€œWayne has been training very hard because he wants to get back into the side. I think he has realised there was no way the club were going to sell him and he has just got on with doing what he does best. It won€™t be long before he is an automatic choice for the first team.€
David Moyes has been adamant that the Englishman will not depart Old Trafford this summer and it now looks like the former Everton boss has won his first battle at his new club, although with Rooney looking sulky and displeased on the field on Saturday it is unclear how long United can force the striker to stay. The United boss, said:
€œWe just get on with it. Wayne€™s worked really hard and for any player, when you cross that white line you go and play your football.€
Chelsea are continuing to monitor the situation of their top transfer target and whilst United are claim they are confident Rooney will stay, Jose Mourinho and Chelsea are preparing a bid of £40 million. Rooney has two years left of his contract at Manchester United so unless he has a change of heart in next year, the striker could continue to run down his deal and leave the club on a free come summer 2015.
