Should Daniel Levy hold firm in United's pursuit of Danny Rose, Juventus left-back Alex Sandro might not be a bad shout as an alternative.

The Brazilian has flown slightly under the radar outside of Turin, largely because of his lack of international honours - but that's less a reflection of his own ability than it is the brilliance of the man in front of him in the pecking order, namely Marcelo.

An equally competent defender, Sandro has more strings to his bow than Rose going forward. He's blessed both with lightning quick pace and the power to shake off his marker, with crossing ability to rival many wingers, much less defenders.

We're looking at a cost of somewhere in the region of £60m here, which would have been an inordinate sum to pay for a full-back one year ago. In the post-Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy world, however? It's probably about right.
