Man Utd Transfers: 10 Signings To Save Louis Van Gaal's Summer

4. Kevin Strootman

One final central-midfield alternative for Arturo Vidal is Kevin Strootman. Louis van Gaal is known to be a big fan of the 24-year-old, and would have taken him to this summer's World Cup finals in Brazil but for a serious knee injury in March that will sideline him until at least September. Van Gaal is keen on bringing the Roma star to Old Trafford this season despite the fact he will miss the first month of the season with United looking to at long last replace Roy Keane. Strootman has been dubbed 'the Dutch Roy Keane' by media due to his uncompromising style of play while he bears similar resemblance to another Red Devil hero, Paul Scholes. Strootman has excellent vision and is good with a pass while he is physical and strong, and can play box-to-box or as a deep-lying playmaker. Given the aforementioned problems with Marouane Fellaini and the struggles encountered in signing Vidal, Strootman would seem like the perfect replacement for the former and alternative to the latter. Fellaini is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford with van Gaal set to wield the axe and his compatriot would slot in perfectly at the Theatre of Dreams.
