Man Utd Transfers: 10 Signings To Save Louis Van Gaal's Summer
3. Memphis Depay
Manchester United's problems don't just lie in defence and central midfield. They also have issues with their wingers with the likes of Nani, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Wilfried Zaha all failing to get the pulses racing. Nani hasn't lived up to his potential in seven seasons at the club, Young's performances last term were so poor he missed out on a World Cup place and Valencia hasn't been the same player since breaking his leg against Rangers in 2010. Meanwhile Zaha faces an uncertain future having spent half of last season on loan at Cardiff City, where he made very little impact. That's why van Gaal is looking into signing a new wide-man this summer with reports suggesting he is set to bring in fellow Dutchman Memphis Depay. Depay shone during this summer's World Cup finals in the few appearances he made and has admirers in both Tottenham and United. The 20-year-old enjoyed a terrific personal season at current club PSV Eindhoven last term, scoring 12 Eredivisie goals in 32 appearances in 2013-14, and van Gaal is keen. The pacy Netherlands star would certainly give United width which is a good quality to have considering the Reds will be relying on speedy wingers this season. Depay would be a significant upgrade on United's current wingers and outscored Nani, Valencia, Zaha and Young combined last season.
