Man Utd Transfers: 11 Signings Ole Solskjaer Must Make Immediately

Fear not, United fans - there's not even the slightest mention of "Harry Maguire for £80 million".

With the initial buzz of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment as Manchester United manager now well and truly ground to a halt, the former United striker has a huge summer ahead of him as he looks to rejig a Manchester United squad that quite simply is not good enough for what the Old Trafford faithful expect.

Already, Solskjaer has added flying Welsh winger Daniel James and powerful English right-back Aaron Wan-Bassaka to his squad, and more signings are expected before the transfer window slams shut at 5pm on Thursday, August 8th.

As is so often the case with most clubs, United’s available funds will vary depending on any possible outgoings, and we've already seen the Red Devils linked to a ridiculous amount of players since their 2018/2019 campaign fizzled out with a 6th-placed whimper.

Clearly there are some areas that need looking at urgently *cough* at centre-back *cough* but it would be fair to say that there are problems all over the pitch right now for Manchester United. Luckily for Ole, then, this article amasses a list of realistic transfer targets who could instantly turn around a team that has become a laughing stock.

11. Stefan De Vrij - Inter Milan

Manchester United look like they may have missed out on Matthijs de Ligt, but they would be well advised to turn their attention to one of de Ligt’s international teammates.

Having moved from Lazio to Inter Milan last summer, Stefan de Vrij has continued to prove himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A. Considering this is a league famed for its great defenders, that’s quite the accolade for the former Feyenoord man.

Of course, Inter are currently looking to add Romelu Lukaku to their ranks ahead of the 2019/2020 campaign. With the Nerazzurri struggling to raise the money to sign Lukaku, the Red Devils are surely in a prime bargaining position to ask for de Vrij to be included in any such deal for the Belgian frontman.

Many have suggested that Inter’s Milan Skriniar would be an ideal solution to United’s defensive concerns, yet de Vrij is a more complete and composed player than the Slovakian. At 27 years of age, de Vrij is approaching his peak years and he would instantly bring a sense of calm to Man Utd’s backline.
