Man Utd Transfers: 5 Dream Midfielders Louis van Gaal Could Sign Before Deadline Day
4. William Carvalho
Alternatively Manchester United could sign William Carvalho, who has been on their radar for much of the summer. In fact, United's interest in the Portugal international pre-dates Louis van gaal's tenure as manager, with predecessor David Moyes keen on landing him at Old Trafford prior to his dismissal. Arsenal are also keen on the 22-year-old, who is widely tipped to become the best midfielder in the game over the coming years, though United are believed to have emerged as favourites to sign the youngster, and have even reportedly had two bids turned down by his club Sporting Lisbon already. It's easy to see what all the fuss is about. Carvalho is 6ft 1 and a tough midfield dynamo who can sit as a holding midfielder capable of breaking down opposition attacks in the middle of the park. He resembles a young Roy Keane, the United legend who possessed similar attributes, and is exactly the type of no-nonsense player the Red Devils need in a midfield that is presently devoid of any leadership. He could be available for as little as £24 million this summer and is definitely worth snapping up.
