Man Utd Transfers: 5 Essential Replacements For Rio Ferdinand

3. Ezequiel Garay

The Benfica defender has been linked with a move to Manchester United on several occasions and is being viewed as a key transfer target this summer. The Premier League champions have reportedly agreed a deal worth £17 million for the services of the player but nothing has been confirmed yet. At just 26-years-old, Garay is still a fairly young defender who has a lot of time to improve. The former Real Madrid player played in 18 club games last season and has proven himself on a domestic and European stage. The centre-back has also been heavily involved in the Argentina squad of late having played in ten international games last season. One thing which makes Garay a better option than most defenders is his experience in Europe, something Manchester United are crying out for. With The Red Devils having been knocked out of last season€™s campaign at the hands of Real Madrid during the latter stages, new boss David Moyes will be hoping that with a few more signings that they could go all the way next season.
