4. Ryan Shawcross
Having already been on Manchester United's books back in the 2006/7 season, Shawcross will have been one player that Sir Alex Ferguson will regret allowing to leave Old Trafford. Shawcross
joined Stoke City in 2007 on loan from The Red Devils but a deal to make the move permanent was agreed in January 2008,
worth just £1 million. In his first season with Stoke, Shawcross played in
41 games in all competitions and quickly became a key player for the then Championship side. After his first season, Shawcross had helped Stoke City escape the Championship and reach the Premier League, where they have stayed ever since. Shawcross has made over
28 league appearances in every season for the Potters and has proven himself worthy as the club's captain. The only downside to the Englishman's game is that he has no European significant experience but with time he could easily settle down and become the leader of Uniteds defence. At just 25-years-old, Shawcross still has the majority of his career ahead of him and the centre-back could be a potential star for Manchester United having already proven his leadership skills. With Chris Smalling and Phil Jones already on United's books, Ryan Shawcross could be an exciting addition that could benefit club and country.
