2. Kevin Strootman
Another central midfielder who could potentially replace Ryan Giggs at Old Trafford is Kevin Strootman of PSV Eindhoven. United are on the verge of signing the Netherlands international, who excelled in this summer's U21 European Championships,
according to reports. Though the 23-year old has a contract with PSV until 2016, the midfielder's agent has previously hinted his client could be tempted by a move to England and possibly, the Premier League champions.
"He (Strootman) is focused on England because that would suit his style. "He has the physique, the character and the fitness for it. I am certainly not afraid he could handle that level."
United's chief scout Jim Lawlor watched the star in action during the European Championships and was said to have brought back a glowing report to David Moyes, who is now ready to make a £15 million bid within the next few weeks. Strootman is known as a tough-tackling midfielder and plays in a box-to-box role, and as such has been dubbed
"the Dutch Roy Keane", but he also possesses good vision and balance on the ball and has been heralded for his tactical play, and could also be the new Giggs.
