4. Filipe Luis
Paulo Duarte/AP/Press Association ImagesWhen Manchester United gave Patrice Evra a new one year contract extension and signed Luke Shaw this season, the intention was for Shaw to learn under the veteran left-back as he matures into adulthood. Still only 18, the ex-Southampton star is far from the finished article and still has much to learn. Evra's impending departure to Juventus however looks set to but paid to those plans, which is maybe one of the reasons United have been looking at Atletico Madrid's Filipe Luis. The 28-year-old had a stand-out season for Atleti last season, forming part of a back line that only conceded 26 goals in 38 games in 2013-14, helping Los Rojiblancos to their first Spanish title since 1996. His solid defensive performances have not gone unnoticed by other clubs, however, and United's Premier League rivals
Chelsea are also interested in the veteran fullback, and are thought to be close to agreeing a deal. Evra's eventual departure to Juve though may lead to the Red Devils making a late attempt to gatecrash Chelsea's move, and the two could fight it out in a two-way tussle over the defender this summer.
