Man Utd Transfers: 5 Midfield Alternatives For Paul Pogba

1. Ross Barkley

Of David Moyes's current available options, perhaps the most sensible approach is to go in for Ross Barkley this month. 'Bigger name' players such as Ander Herrera and Ilkay Gundogan are cup-tied in the Champions League and value for money can be difficult to come by while shopping in Europe at this time of year. Barkley however would not be ineligible to play for United in any competition and could fit straight into the team, which is a big bonus. Within the last couple of weeks, United have been linked with a move for the Everton rookie, who has been heralded as the biggest star to emerge since Wayne Rooney at Goodison Park. The 20-year-old has scored three Premier League goals this season to fire the Toffees up the table and like Rooney, could become United's next Merseyside interest. Reports have suggested Barkley is worth as much as £50 million but a bid of around £20 million this month may test Everton's resolve. Moyes would seem to have little other alternative than to try.
