1. Cristiano Ronaldo
Another of the game's megastars United could sign to replace Rooney is old boy Cristiano Ronaldo. Similarly to Gareth Bale, the Portuguese ace is technically affordable given the financial backing apparently being put behind Moyes by the club's board. United could
break the bank this summer by landing one of Bale or Ronaldo, and both would be superb replacements for Rooney. Ronaldo, who left United for Real Madrid in 2009 for what remains a world-record £80 million fee, only has two years remaining on his current deal at the Bernabeu and has previously
denied he has signed an extension with the Spanish giants. That leaves United in the frame to complete a mammoth transfer deal, and one that would rock the very foundations of the Premier League, by bringing their hero "back home" to end his career. And that would soon leave us all asking ourselves: Wayne who?
