Prizing Thomas Muller away from Bayern Munich would be an uphill struggle for Ed Woodward, but would again lay down a marker for the clubs around United and prove they mean business. Formerly a midfielder, since making the step up to striker Muller has gone from strength to strength; dominating the penalty box and proving himself a right ol' nuisance to defenders.

Mullers goalscoring record isn't phenomenal, but he has started the season in fine form, with 3 goals in his first 2 games. In part this is down to playing as an attacking midfielder for most of his career. Giving him the mantle of lone frontman would propel him in to more goalscoring opportunities and he is no stranger to an assist. At 25 years-old and close to being at the peak of his powers, signing Muller now would be an excellent move for United.

Getting Pep Guardiola to sell however may be a step too far, but he has Robert Lewandowski up front so it wouldn't leave him without a striker. Every player has his price and for the right fee United may just have a chance.
