Man Utd Transfers - 9 Players Louis van Gaal Should Spend £200 Million On
5. Arturo Vidal
With United's crumbling, ruinous defence addressed, van Gaal must now focus on rebuilding United's midfield, with stars such as Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Ashley Young and Nani waning recently. But it's the recent form of Carrick and Fellaini that is particularly bothersome, and one reason why Juventus star Arturo Vidal is on United's wishlist this summer. 33 in July, Carrick is not the player of old and his best days are firmly in the past, while Fellaini has simply failed to make any kind of an impact since last summer's £27 million move from Everton. Vidal would be a good replacement for both - nicknamed Il Guerriero ("The Warrior") by the Italian press for his tenacious style of play, the Juventus star is a player who pulls no punches, much like Roy Keane, who United have still thus far failed to replace. Former Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson was spotted sat next to Juve coach Antonio Conte at Juventus Stadium last week as Sevilla beat Benfica on penalties. And Sport Mediaset claim he was there to confirm a £26 million offer by United on behalf of van Gaal, who is preoccupied with this summer's World Cup. Value: £26 million
