Man Utd Transfers: 9 Sub-Par Players Who Need To Be Sold
9. Tom Cleverley
Tom Cleverley is a regular feature in the Manchester United team as well as being called up to represent England on a frequent basis. He is clearly well liked by David Moyes and Roy Hodgson and his work ethic and dedication to the cause is clear to see. However, there's little he has shown on the pitch that has warranted this kind of faith in him. His form is ridiculously inconsistent. Some games he will show exactly why he's there and answers his critics but the majority of times he's disappointing and at a top club, nobody can be carried. Every one of his high points will be easily comparable to a number of lows, which outnumber his positive contribution. He had a bright spell in November when Michael Carrick was absent through injury but he has failed to build upon that. Over the festive period he was extremely poor, which coincided with a run of dire defeats, particularly at home to the likes of Everton and Newcastle United. His contribution is also extremely bare. In his last 46 Premier League and Champions League appearances he has just three goals and three assists, which is simply not good enough for a Manchester United central midfielder. Perhaps there's a worry that should he be allowed to leave that he will impress elsewhere and made good on his potential. United have fallen habit to that in the past with the likes of Pique, Ravel Morrison and Paul Pogba. The latter would be doing a great job for United now and his form would suggest he's at a completely different level to the Englishman. Tom Cleverley, to put it bluntly, isn't good enough to play for a club like Manchester United and the Red Devils should admit that his future lies elsewhere.
