Man Utd Transfers: Predicting Louis van Gaal's First 10 Signings

3. Marco Reus

Another star who could join us over the summer as a result of his time in Germany is Marco Reus, who Louis van Gaal is familiar with having sparred with Borussia Mönchengladbach during his time as Bayern Munich manager. Reus was at Mönchengladbach while van Gaal bossed the Bavarians, and the Netherlands manager will have seen the midfielder at close quarters in recent years. The 24-year-old has stated recently that he wants to finish his career with medals, saying: 'Every footballer has his goals and is dreaming of winning titles. At the end of your career, you want to be able to say that you've won many titles.' And, with Dortmund's star rapidly fading with the sale of star man Robert Lewandowski to Bayern, their chances of winning titles and hanging on to Reus are growing slimmer, meaning the midfielder may chase success elsewhere. If van Gaal can persuade Reus that he can win medals in Manchester, his signature would come as a real coup - at 24, Reus is considered one of European football's brightest young prospects with his 16 goals last season alerting a number of clubs - including Chelsea - to his services.
