Man Utd vs Liverpool: 5 Reasons Why It's Unmissable

4. Man Utd Need To Win

It seems weird to say it but if any team needs a victory then it would be Man Utd after an average start to their first league season under a new manager for the first time a quarter of a century. There are certainly a few mutterings around Old Trafford but Moyes has had a rough start to life in the Man Utd hot seat with several high profile failures in the transfer market followed by facing 3 huge matches in Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City in the league.

Man Utd only managed to get one point from those three big games and that point was a rather flat scoreless draw with Chelsea at home. The two defeats away to Liverpool and the crushing beating at the weekend to their local rivals have been big blows to Moyes trying to get in and establish himself as the right man for a near impossible job.

It is of course way too early to start pointing fingers at Moyes it has been a tough run of fixtures for any new boss and the pressure on him as Man Utd boss is far more than Moyes ever had to endure at Everton. A victory over Liverpool no matter in what competition would be a big help to Moyes just to show his fans and pundits that he can win a big game.

Of course labelling a third round League Cup game as a must win sounds stupid but Moyes needs a big high profile win under his belt just to ease any bubbling thoughts of doubt. He will also need several of his big time players to perform, lots has been made of Wayne Rooney€™s impressive start to the season but some other players in red have but in some below average performances.

So why should you watch Man Utd vs. Liverpool Wednesday night? Well for the first time in what must be decades there is some real pressure on the Red Devils to win the game and any team going into a big match needing a victory makes the match more open and a better spectacle.
