The question on the lips of every football fan tonight is - "will Luis Suarez play?" The Uruguayan has been out of action since April 21st after being hammered with a whopping 10-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. The potential return of the controversial star is of even more significance considering it could come against an opponent with whom he has a great deal of history with. Suarez was once banned after being found guilty of racially abusing United defender Patrice Evra, and there could be fireworks if manager Brendan Rodgers decides to name him in his starting XI. As for hosts United, the visit of their oldest foes comes off the back of a demoralizing defeat of another of their bitter rivals, Manchester City. City utterly outplayed and outclassed the champions at the weekend in a thumping 4-1 win that raises questions over manager David Moyes's very tenure at the club. And he will be looking for an instant reaction from his side, starting tonight against Liverpool, who have already recorded a win over the English champions this season. Throw the possible introduction of Suarez into the mix, and you have all the ingredients of a classic, even with the Capital One Cup being in its infancy.
