4. Luka Modric's Introduction
Having lit up the Premier League at Tottenham to great success, it was inevitable that the Croatian playmaker was going to make the move eventually to one of the biggest clubs in the world, and Real Madrid were the team that came calling last summer. However, life hasn't been all roses and champagne for the little midfield schemer as he was voted the worst signing in La Liga this season after struggling to deliver him dominating performances that he produced week in, week out at White Hart Lane. But after Nani had been sent off, Mourinho introduced Modric in place for Mesut Ozil and almost immediately made an impact, scoring the goal that pulled the Spaniards level on aggregate and on the night, and also got the team moving more menacingly in the attacking areas. Just as de Gea's performance in the Bernabeu was dubbed as his coming of age at a big club, it could be that his substitute performance at Old Trafford could see Modric's confidence grow once more and maybe become a big part of Madrid's plans.
