3. Ferguson Was Right To Drop Rooney
When Rooneys name wasnt announced in the starting XI, eyebrows were certainly scratched but Ferguson was certainly vindicated for his decision. Choosing to start Giggs in his 1000th game worked perfectly. The Welshman was phenomenal in both the attacking and defensive sense rushing forward at times whilst never finding himself out of position in Uniteds half. Combined with Welbecks wonderful performance, they had more than occupied the hole left by Rooneys absence. Ferguson chose to drop Rooney because he trusted Giggs and Welbeck to add more defensively and they did just that. If Nani had not got sent off, journalists would be talking about the tactical masterstroke of leaving Rooney out. Instead, it has been blown up as an omen for Rooneys inevitable departure.
