2. Chances, Chances, Chances
Vidics crashing header off the post and Welbecks rebound that went straight to the keeper; Rooneys half volley over the bar; Carricks header straight at the keeper; Vidics header late on wonderfully saved by Lopez. Theres no denying that Manchester United were the more aggressive, and creative, side: they picked holes in the Madrid defence and always looked the more likely to score. It was only when United went down to ten men that Madrid found space on the pitch and the Red Devils couldnt contain it. Ronaldo was restricted to long shots from outside the box and going forward, Madrid offered little to the tie. It was all United in the attacking sense and for the fact that they took the game to Madrid and were beating them, despite their superior squad player-for-player, United certainly deserved the victory.
