Newcastle: 10 Craziest Players Ever To Wear Black & White

8. Craig Bellamy

The Welshman who played for Newcastle during Sir Bobby Robson's Return Of The Entertainers period of near-success (it's all relative really) isn't exactly well known for his good manners and social etiquette. At Manchester City he was branded a "viscious thug" for slapping a pitch invader, and his career has been almost as notable for scandal and bad behaviour as it was for moments like the stunning Champions League winner against Feyenoord that sent Newcastle to the most unlikely qualification from the Group Stages in competition history. And Bellamy was already a fully fledged member of the unhinged club when he joined Newcastle, showing early form by kicking Marco Materazzi in the Champions League (which Zinedine Zidane no doubt envies) before unthinkably challenging John Carver - the caged animal who now prowls Newcastle's touchline behind Alan Pardew - to a fight. Or, more specifically, throwing a chair at him. For anyone even remotely aware of Carver, that is definitely not the done thing. Bellamy then went on to publicly call Graeme Sounness a liar, which lead to him being sent out on loan to Celtic, and then to text both Alan Shearer and former director Kenny Shepherd gloating after an FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United. So that's three people you shouldn't attempt to upset.
