Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea: Player Ratings
Moussa Sissoko: Gave away lots of silly fouls in first half on Cole and Hazard. Twice drew saves from Cech and booked for a late lunge on Ivanovic. Never stopped running though. 6.5/10. Yohan Cabaye: Today's display was more about defending for French playmaker. Attacking threat was intermittent, but got assist for Gouffran goal with set piece delivery. Late first half frustration can be forgiven. 6.5/10 Cheick Tiote: Involved in nasty collision on a greasy surface with Oscar. Subbed early in second half with possible thigh strain. 5/10. Yoan Gouffran: Got better as the game wore on. Worked Cech in second half before nodding in Cabaye free kick. Clever movement made it and subbed to a standing ovation. 7/10. Shola Ameobi: An aerial threat in both boxes as ever, brought other Magpies players into the game, but not quite as dangerous as he was against City. Subbed. 6.5/10. Loic Remy: Clever lay-offs leading the line throughout, worked Cech with close range effort and sealed victory with a clinical late finish. Booked for taking shirt off in celebration, but we forgive Remy who silenced critics here. WhatCulture's man of the match. 7.5/10 Subs: Vurnon Anita: Got 40 minutes when Tiote was nobbled. A steady, sitting presence that broke late on and teed up Remy for second goal. 6.5/10 Papiss Cisse: Came on for half an hour, but where oh where has the forward threat of his first six months at St James' Park gone? Anonymous again 5/10 Gabriel Obertan: Only got five minutes. Rating N/A Click on next for Chelsea ratings.
