Newcastle 2014-15 Season Review - Player Ratings

22. Daryl Janmaat - 7.5

Appearances (All Competitions): 40 Minutes Played (Premier League): 3,255 Assists (All Competitions): 6 Goals (All Competitions): 1 Yellow Cards (Premier League): 6 Red Cards (Premier League): 1
If the season had ended in March then Janmaat would have been on for a score of 8.5 or even 9, because up until that point the Dutch international was exceptional. A constant threat in attack - providing six assists from full-back - and the Magpies' best defender by a country mile this season, the 25-year-old looked an upgrade on the departed Mathieu Debuchy, despite costing £9 million less than the Frenchman was sold for. However, a stupid sending off away at Leicester City and a number of performances in which he looked disinterested towards the end of the campaign have affected his rating. Still arguably Newcastle's best player this season, and the club will do well to keep hold of him.
