Newcastle 2014-15 Season Review - Player Ratings

30. Mehdi Abeid - 5

It was baffling that John Carver refused to pick Abeid in midfield towards the end of the campaign despite Ryan Taylor struggling so badly to match up with the pace of the Premier League, but it is the Algerian's wastefulness in possession that frustrates the Newcastle coaching staff so much. The 22-year-old is energetic and always willing to receive the ball but sometimes he can lose possession in dangerous positions and this concerns the management. However his masterful display at Manchester City in the Capital One Cup victory proved how effective he can be when he is given the opportunity to perform.
