Newcastle Set To Sell 5 First Team Players

The Magpies will look to offload some squad players but their current wages could make it difficult.

Newcastle United players, Mike Williamson, Yoan Gouffran, Mehdi Abeid, Gael Bigirimana and Haris Vuckic are all on their way out of St James' Park according to the Guardian. The report states that the Magpies are looking to free up their wage bill by offloading some of their first-team fringe players but their wage demands could prove problematic when trying to find potential suitors. Mike Williamson has been linked to a reunion with Chris Hughton at Brighton and Hove Albion while Yoan Gouffran has been told that he is free to leave the club. The Daily Mail report that Haris Vuckic, Gael Bigirimana and Mehdi Abeid have been told that they are also €œavailable for transfer€ this summer. None of the aforementioned players were involved during Newcastle's first game of the season at Southampton and it's unsurprising that Steve McClaren is happy to let them leave in order to bring in some fresh talent. The Toon boss, recently said: €œI€™m happy with the I€™ve got. We€™re always looking. "I think a lot of clubs now will settle down and look at it after their first one, two, three games before the window closes. "They might think €˜We€™ve got gaps there, we need a bit more quality there€™ and I think that€™s what we€™ll be doing." Papiss Cisse and Cheick Tiote's futures are still undecided but the pair have not been linked with a move away from Tyneside this week and the Senegalese striker insisted that he was going nowhere earlier this week.
