Newcastle Transfer News: Magpies Re-Open Bafetimbi Gomis Talks

Sky Sports sources. It appeared as though the Magpies would be left frustrated in their efforts to sign the 28-year-old after agreeing a £7 million fee earlier this month only to pull out due to what they perceived to have been exorbitant agents fees. However, the North East club appear to be back in the running now with manager Alan Pardew keen to add to his squad before next Monday's transfer deadline day. Pardew was in France last week to watch Lyon against Real Sociedad but the Frenchman was not in the squad and it is understood he was there to scout another target, Gomis's team-mate and midfielder Yoann Gourcuff, another long-term target. Bafetimbi Gomis Pardew will be hopeful of landing both players as he looks for a new striker and midfielder following Yohan Cabaye's decision to go on strike in an effort to force through a move to Arsenal, who have made a bid of £10 million. The Toon boss also wants to add to his attack and despite bringing in Loic Remy on loan from Queens Park Rangers, the former Marseille man remains his only summer signing to date.
