Newcastle Transfer News: Magpies To Revive Luuk De Jong Interest?

Newcastle United could be about to revive their interest in Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk De Jong, according to the Chronicle. The Dutch international is a long-term target for the Magpies but is one of several targets on manager Alan Pardew's wishlist this winter. De Jong joined Monchengladbach from FC Twente in 2012 but has failed to settle in Germany, with his club reportedly prepared to let him leave on loan in January. Should a move materialise, he would become Newcastle's second loanee this season alongside French forward Loic Remy, who moved temporarily from Championship club Queens Park Rangers last summer. The Chronicle also say that the Magpies are also thought to be weighing up a shock move for ex-player Demba Ba, who has also failed to settle at his new club after leaving St James' Park for Chelsea last January. His year in west London has been a disappointment, with the Senegelese star managing just eight appearances this season, mostly as a substitute. Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto'o are both ahead of him in the pecking order, but it is understood the Blues would have to slash the price of the loan fee for him to return to Tyneside. De Jong scored 25 goals in 32 appearances in his final season for Twente and netted six in 23 outings in his debut campaign with Monchengladbach last term. Ba meanwhile was Newcastle's joint-top goalscorer last season despite departing midway through the campaign with 13 league goals. Do you think moves for De Jong and Ba would be good for Newcastle?
