Newcastle Transfer News Round-Up: Every Player The Magpies Have Been Linked With From June 1st-7th
2. Andre Ayew (Marseille)
Tottenham Hotspur appear to have pulled out of the race to sign Andre Ayew on a free transfer - clearing the way for Newcastle United or West Ham United to bring the Marseille forward to the Premier League next season. The 25-year-old rose up through the ranks at Marseille but he has become disillusioned by their inability to challenge for the title and, following Paris Saint-Germains third Ligue 1 victory in as many seasons, Ayew has admitted he sees his future away from the Stade Velodrome. Ayew is a free agent this summer as his contract will be up and a whole host of Premier League clubs are queuing up to sign him, but Sky Sports claim Spurs are no longer interested in the forward. The 62-cap Ghana international, who scored twice for his nation at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has been linked with the likes of Newcastle, Arsenal, West Ham and Liverpool, and it appears certain he will be in the Premier League soon. Ayew, who has progressed through the youth ranks at Marseille, enjoyed loan spells at Lorient and Arles-Avignon before making his real breakthrough into his parent clubs first-team side in 2010. He has made 250 career appearances to date, scoring 65 goals, including 58 in 188 for Marseille. The winger has also netted 11 times in 62 internationals for Ghana.
