Newcastle Transfer News Round-Up: Every Player The Magpies Have Been Linked With From June 29th-July 5th

12. Tom Ince (Signed For Derby County From Hull City)

Tom Ince is the move once again after the winger signed permanently for Derby County, despite interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies and the Rams were both looking to sign the 23-year-old, who wanted to leave the KC Stadium following the Tigers' relegation to the Championship. Sky Sports claimed that Magpies head coach Steve McClaren was hoping to lure Ince to St James' Park, with the former England Under-21 international having impressed under the ex-Three Lions boss at the iPro Stadium last season. Ince had long been linked with a transfer to Tyneside - and he even spoke to Magpies officials after leaving Blackpool at the end of the 2013-14 season. Son of former England captain Paul Ince, the winger scored 11 goals in 18 Championship appearances at Derby under McClaren's guidance last season. Having risen through the Liverpool youth ranks, Ince was loaned to Notts County before moving permanently to Blackpool. Impressive performances at The Tangerines, where he was named Football League Young Player of the Year for 2012-13, and on loan at Crystal Palace saw a fight for his signature but Ince opted to move to Hull last summer, although he was loaned to both Nottingham Forest and Derby in 2014-15. To date, Ince has netted 48 goals in 167 career appearances.
