Newcastle Transfer Round-Up: Every Player Linked From July 13th-19th
8. Stefano Okaka (Sampdoria)
Newcastle United continue to scour the market for a new striker to add to their squad and Sampdoria forward Stefano Okaka is the latest name linked with a move to St James Park. The 25-year-old spent the 2010-11 season on loan at Fulham from Roma and netted twice in 11 Premier League appearances. Despite being a regular in the Sampdoria starting line-up, the Serie A side are willing to offload the forward due to the fact he has just a yet left on his contract, according to Gazzetta TV and Forza Italian Football. The 6ft 1in forward is big, powerful and has been capped one by Italy and he netted during his only appearances for the Azzurri. Promoted side Watford reportedly made a move for Okaka last month, only for the 25-year-old to reject the Hornets who managed just four goals in 32 appearances last season. Okaka has had somewhat of a chequered career to date, having spent time at nine clubs but only permanently at Roma, Parma and Sampdoria. However, the forward has also been on loan at a variety of clubs around Europe including Modena, Brescia, Fulham, Bari, Parma and Spezia but Tyneside could become his next destination.
