Newcastle Transfers: 10 Players Alan Pardew Must Sign Before Man City

3. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Current Club: Borussia Dortmund Position: Striker Quite frankly it would come as a shock to us if Newcastle were to reignite their interest in Aubameyang after investing plenty of time scouting the Gabon forward when he was starring for Saint Etienne with no reward for our efforts. That being said we can't exactly bear a grudge against Aubameyang for being lured to Borussia Dortmund by the promise of Champions League football and a crack at the Bundesliga title. But it hasn't exactly been plain sailing for the 25-year-old in Germany and recent reports have suggest that Dortmund are prepared to sell him for ‚8 million just a year after he arrived at the Westfalenstadion for ‚13m. Despite playing second fiddle to Robert Lewandowski for much of the season Aubameyang still found the net 16 times in 37 matches spanning all competitions and ended the season with an impressive goals-per-game ratio of 0.50 (13 in 26) in the Bundesliga. Although he was rarely deployed as a centre-forward at Dortmund - often he was stationed on the right side of a three-pronged attack - and 17 of his appearances were as a substitute we've seen enough of Aubameyang to convince us that he is adaptable enough to comfortably slot into the lone striker position vacated by Loic Remy. Not to mention his ‚8m price tag should make him an enticing prospect for Pardew as he strives to strengthen an attack weakened by Remy's return to QPR.
