Newcastle Transfers: 10 Players Magpies Could Sign In January

10. Charlie Austin

Current Club: Queens Park Rangers Estimated Cost In January: £6.0 Million Age: 26 Position: Striker Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Charlie Austin's elated deadline day tweets were perhaps typed with gritted teeth after it became apparent that he was going to be staying at Queens Park Rangers for a bit longer. That familiar Wolf of Wall Street vine, followed by a '#9 #QPR' tweet and a new found admiration for Leroy Fer's dance moves all seemed a bit desperate as the transfer window shut. Days later and reports from the Independent stated that the player still wants "the right" Premier League move in January. Newcastle United have been heavily linked with the Queens Park Rangers striker this summer but decided to not pay the £15 million asking price as the club had concerns about Austin€™s injury problems. It's unknown how close the Magpies were to signing the striker but it€™s thought that Steve McClaren is still interested in signing the English forward and the player hasn€™t ruled out a future move to Tyneside. Speaking to the Independent Austin has revealed that he is focused on making sure that QPR gain promotion back to the Premier League but has stated that he would be open to a move when the transfer window re-opens in January. The speculation will no doubt strengthen if Aleksandar Mitrovic doesn't start scoring before Christmas and if Papiss Cisse starts to once more angle for a move away from the North East.
