"My dream was always to play in the Premier League and Newcastle have given me the opportunity. When the club spoke to me I said yes immediately. It was an easy decision." - Emmanuel Riviere, July 2014.

Graham Carr has been stealing a living from the club for too long now, having lived off the purchases of Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote for too long now. There is a myriad of names that make for truly abysmal reading, with one sticking out in underlined bold - Emmanuel Riviere.

The French striker, a £6 million signing from Newcastle, has made 24 league appearances for the club since signing in 2014 and has just the solitary league strike to show for it - and even that was a fluke.

When he leaves, he will inevitably be recorded as one of the worst strikers in St. James’ Park history. How Carr could look Alan Pardew in the eye after a few games of watching the Frenchman toil in a black-and-white kit is anyone’s guess.

"This is an important signing because the striking area is one we had to improve. We know he will score goals." - Alan Pardew, July 2014.

Plural, Alan? The club are still waiting...
