1. 3 Points Away From Home!
Despite all of this, the biggest positive on Tuesday was surely three points. After going so long without that away win doubts will set in and players will wonder; Are we ever going to win away from home? With some shaky performances away from home of late and the pressure of the new signings, Newcastle could have felt this pressure. They didnt though and used the springboard effectively and took their first away win of the season. Newcastle will now feel the away win monkey is off their back and will feel more confident when they head off away from home. This will be key in the rest of their season with trips to Wigan and QPR still on the agenda and winning these games could be crucial to their survival. Away confidence could also see Newcastles quest for silverware continue as they have a tricky two-legged tie against Metalist Kharkiv in the Europa League. Aston Villa will be seen as merely a stepping stone to survival by the team but there are lots of positives to take away but one win doesnt make a season and they will be hoping to build on this success on Saturday against Chelsea.
