Newcastle United Fighting For Blerim Dzemaili's Signature?
Bundesliga clubs Borussia Monchengladbach and Stuttgart are also said to be chasing the 25 year-old Swiss international who only moved to Napoli last summer from Parma in a €9M move.
Newcastle United are in a three-way tussle to sign Napoli midfielder Blerim Dzemaili in the summer, according to Talksport. Bundesliga clubs Borussia Monchengladbach and Stuttgart are also said to be chasing the 25 year-old Swiss international who only moved to Napoli last summer from Parma in a 9M move. That translates at around £7.5 million, so Newcastle are going to have to pay a fee similar to that which secured Papiss Cisse in January to the North East. Dzemaili may be a familiar name to some as he spent two seasons on loan at Bolton Wanderers between 2007 and 2009, brought to the Premier League by Sam Allardyce. Injury hampered his time at the Reebok where he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury that ruled him out for six months and he was slow to recover, and he ended up only making one appearance for the club as a substitute in the FA cup and he was then farmed out off to Torino on loan the following year. In some kind of strange irony, Dzemaili then moved to Torino permanently and didn't make another appearance as a permanent player before joining Parma on loan, and then permanently, impressing there before earning a big money move to Napoli where he has enjoyed Champions League exposure this season. Dzemaili has played 28 times, including six appearances in the Champions League and has scored two goals and two assists. Ahead of his move to Bolton, Allardyce had high hopes for the player;
"Džemaili is a fantastic player, who has played for the best team in Switzerland for the past three years. For someone so young, he has a wealth of experience. At the tender age of 20, he is the skipper of FC Zurich and is expected to become a regular international for Switzerland in the years ahead. He has hardly missed a game for FC Zurich since he started playing for them at the age of 17. I am excited by the prospect of working with Blerim next season"He has only just recently started showing this promise as the finished article in the past two years but it has impressed a great number of watchers. Whether Newcastle are one of the clubs interested is just rumour at this point but a lot of midfielders are being linked with a move to St. James' Park in the past few months, which is a good indicator that it is an area Pardew wishes to strengthen.
