Newcastle United Transfers: 5 Players They Must Sign

4. Nicolas Tagliafico (Ajax)

Whilst the attacking element of the team and defensive stalwart Matthijs de Ligt received so much praise last season as Ajax won the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup in addition to reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League, one of the unsung heroes of that Ajax side was Argentine left-back Nicolas Tagliafico.

In recent weeks, the player himself has admitted that he's now at a point where he's looking for a new challenge away from the Johan Cruyff Arena after two seasons in Amsterdam.

Going back to January, and Newcastle were reportedly close to agreeing a deal to bring Tagliafico to St. James' Park as The Magpies continued their search for a new left-back. The stumbling block back then was the £8 million transfer fee that Ajax were asking for.

The Toon outfit are still on the hunt for a left-back - even more so after the recent injury to Matt Ritchie - and it may now be time to go back in for the defensively sound, adventurously attacking Nicolas Tagliafico.
