Newcastle United Transfers: 5 Players They Must Sign

1. Neal Maupay (Brentford)

If you believe recent reports, Aston Villa, Sheffield United, and Brighton & Hove Albion are all locked in a battle to secure the signature of Brentford's Neal Maupay in a £20 million deal.

With 25 league goals for The Bees last season, Maupay was third in the Championship's top goalscorer stakes - only Teemu Pukki and Tammy Abraham ending the campaign with more league goals than the French forward.

Still only 22 years of age, Maupay is a bundle of energy and movement who has shown just how proficient he can be when in front of goal.

Newcastle may have signed Brazilian forward Joelinton this summer, but Steve Bruce's men are still crying out for an alternative forward option not named Dwight Gayle.

In today's market, and considering his age and the season he's just had, The Magpies might want to consider putting aside £20 million of their transfer budget to try and convince Neal Maupay to spurn the advances of Villa, Sheffield Utd, and Brighton, and instead opt to head to the North East.
