Newcastle United - WhatCulture End-Of-Season Awards

17. Set-Piece Specialist Of The Year Award

Chris' Winner: Mike Williamson. Newcastle United have tried, for five years, to lump the ball into the box and get Iron Mike to head the ball towards goal. However, his "50-pence" head prevents this, as he manages to nod the ball anywhere but towards the opposition goal. Please just find a new target at set-pieces, Newcastle. Please... Ross' Winner: Ryan Taylor. It's just a myth that Taylor is somehow a "set-piece specialist". He scored one over-hit free-kick against Sunderland a few years ago and he gets heralded as a master set-piece taker because of it. He is simply useless at them.
