Newcastle United - WhatCulture End-Of-Season Awards

4. Interview Of The Season Award

Chris' Winner: Mike Ashley (before the 2-0 home victory over West Ham United). Mainly because I had never heard the Newcastle owner string more than three words together, so it was incredible to hear his posh-Cockney accent. Well actually no, this was so incredible because somehow the Sports Direct magnate thought speaking on Sky Sports 15 minutes before a crucial Newcastle game would build bridges with the Toon faithful. His positive words were a start - but it's time for action, and not interviews. Investment must actually be made, not "continued". Ross' Winner: Fabricio Coloccini (after the 1-1 home draw with West Bromwich Albion). Just nice to see he can actually talk and he is not a mute. The amount of times people like Mike Williamson were put in front of a camera making excuses for defeats when it should have been the captain was simply unacceptable. This was long overdue, and it needs to happen with far-greater regularity.
