Newcastle's 10 Greatest Premier League Moments
Get your tissues at the ready...
Forget Kevin Keegan's rant or seven-goal thrillers at Anfield, this is the feel-good list that every Newcastle United fan has been longing for. Why? Because Newcastle are largely remembered for their shortcomings rather than a wonderful story that stuck to the most fanciful of scripts when it comes to the Barclays Premier League. It has to be one of the most annoying things about being a fan of The Magpies... This depressing fact was underlined by Sky Sports this summer as the only footage of they showed of United in one of their promotional videos for the upcoming season, other than the moments aforementioned, was Temuri Ketsbaia kicking seven bells out of the advertising hoardings in 1998... Fans of the club have been forced to take a substantial amount of the rough with a slightly lesser portion of the smooth since gaining promotion under KK in 1993. You often hear of rival fans slamming clubs for clinging onto their past, but that's all the 'Toon Army' have. In terms of any real success in the BPL, they have a solitary campaign which ended in a fifth-placed finish and qualification for the Europa League to brag about from the last decade... So let's forget all the torment goings on at St James' Park have caused over the last 22-years and remember the good times (there was some, I promise), as we look back at Newcastle United's 10 greatest moments in the Barclays Premier League.
